A.P. English Literature and Composition
The course is designed for college-bound students with above-average command of literature, language, and grammar skills. Students will study and analyze prose, poetry, and plays from various fields and periods with a focus on English literature. These examples will serve as models of effective styles, and the students will write a variety of assignments calling for the use of different styles or tones. The class will not only prepare students to sit for the AP Literature and Composition exam in the spring, but it will also deepen their understanding of the way writers use language to provide both meaning and pleasure for their readers.
